Don W. Brown, CPA, JD

Don claims Baton Rouge as his hometown having lived here since he was five. He received his B.S. in accounting from Louisiana State University and his Juris Doctorate from Louisiana State University Law School, and has been practicing as a CPA since 1975. Don’s areas of practice are in IRA distribution planning, and estate and retirement planning, as well as business and individual income tax consulting. He has worked for TWRU since 1994 and became managing partner of the firm in July of 2007.

He and his wife, Judy, have three children and three grandchildren. Don serves as a member of the board of trustees for First United Methodist Church, has held various positions with the Louisiana Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church, and is currently a board member of the United Methodist Foundation of Louisiana.  At the April 2008 General Conference of the United Methodist Church, Don was elected to serve on the 40 member General Council on Finance and Administration for the denomination. He is an avid college basketball fan with an emphasis on the LSU Tigers. 

Stewart W. Wilson, CPA

Stewart hails from Baton Rouge and received a B.S. in accounting from Louisiana State University He has worked for TWRU since 1965 and served as managing partner from 1972 to 2007. Stewart is a member of the State Society of CPAs, American Institute of CPAs and the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. He is a board member of Trendwood Foundation and has served in a variety of past positions including board of directors, Episcopal High School; treasurer, Baton Rouge Rotary Club; and senior warden and treasurer, Trinity Episcopal Church. When he’s away from the office, Stewart enjoys golf, hunting and fishing.

Warren Bofinger, Jr., CPA, MBA

Warren Bofinger earned his B.S. in accounting at Louisiana State University and his MBA at the University of Georgia. He has been a practicing CPA since 1973 and became a partner with TWRU in 1986. Warren’s areas of concentration include taxation, technology and small business consulting. Warren is a member of the Society of Louisiana CPAs Technology Education Committee and is a QuickBooks professional advisor. He serves on the boards of the Paula G. Manship YMCA  Family Services of Greater Baton Rouge and Louisiana Public Radio, Inc.

Walter L. Simmons, CPA

Walter received his B.A. in accounting from Louisiana State University in 1974 and has worked with TWRU since 1975. Walter‘s area of practice includes small business consulting, individual and business tax consulting. Walter is a member of the Society of Louisiana CPAs and American Institute of CPAs. Walter enjoys traveling and in his spare time remodeling older homes.

Kerry G. Uffman, CPA, PFS, CFP, CFA

Kerry Uffman received his B.S. in accounting in 1975 and worked as a CPA for over 25 years specializing in tax planning, business consulting, financial planning and portfolio management. In 2001, he founded TWRU Private Wealth Management, LLC to meet the financial challenges of his long-time, high-income business and professional clients. Kerry is a member and past president of the Estate Planning Council of Baton Rouge. He has been a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants since 1979, a member of the Financial Planning Association since 1992, a member of the CFA Institute since 2000 and a member of and past president of the Estate Planning Council of East Baton Rouge Parish. Active in the community, Kerry has served as a past president of YMCA of Baton Rouge, as well as past chair of the southeastern regional association of YMCA’s and past board member of the YMCA national organization. He has volunteered with the Boy Scouts of America and has been a Rotary Club member since 1982. Kerry has participated in the Texas DFA study group formed by Dimensional Fund Advisors, as well as in a national roundtable of wealth managers formed by CEG Worldwide. He is also a graduate of the Baton Rouge Area Chamber’s “Leadership Baton Rouge” program. Kerry lives in Baton Rouge with his wife, Cookie, and has three children and two grandchildren. In his spare time, he likes to travel, play golf and do a little woodworking.

Sara Downing, CPA

Sara Downing earned her B.S. in accounting from Louisiana State University in 1990. She has worked with TWRU since graduation and became a partner in July 2002. An active volunteer in the Baton Rouge community, Sara is a member of the Rotary Club and First United Methodist Church. She currently serves on the board of Volunteers of America and as a sustaining advisor to the Junior League of Baton Rouge. She also assists with fundraising for both Boys Hope Girls Hope and American Cancer Services. She is a past president of the Junior League of Baton Rouge and the Baton Rouge Little Theater Board of Governors. She was a La Society of CPA’s Public Service Award Nominee and is a graduate of the Baton Rouge Area Chamber’s “Leadership Baton Rouge” program. In 2005, Sara was honored as one of Baton Rouge Business Report’s “Top 40 Under 40.” In her leisure time, she enjoys fishing, cooking and volunteering.

Louis A. LoBue, Jr., MBA, CPA

Born and raised here in Baton Rouge, Louis earned his Bachelors and Masters of Business Administration at Louisiana State University in 1971 and 1972 respectively. Louis has been a tax advisor to businesses and individuals since 1982 and has experience as a  stockbroker and financial planner. Louis and his wife Laurie have been married since 1969 and they have four children and two grandchildren.
